July 2023 Showcase
We would like to proudly announce Linda Ellington-Palmer who joined our team in December as the Executive Director of the Gabriel Project of the Crossroads.
Before becoming our Executive Director, Linda served as our Volunteer Coordinator. When the new position became available, Linda answered the call put upon her servant’s heart.
During Linda’s first six months, she has also been responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Bethlehem Maternity Home, oversees the Mother/Baby Program, and serves as an Angel for three moms.
We appreciate Linda’s enthusiasm, motivation, dedication, and vision to ensure a high quality of service provision to the mothers served by our programs. Some of Linda’s goals include implementing a more trauma-informed care approach for the residents at the Bethlehem Maternity Home by establishing an environment that supports individual needs in areas of spiritual growth, education, and transition to independent living. Linda actively recruits more Angel Volunteers to meet increased needs in our 10 County service area, while expanding partnerships and outreach to community leaders and stakeholders. In addition, Linda is continuously networking in efforts to secure program funding. Congratulations, Linda - We are blessed and honored to have you as our Faithful Leader!
It is hard to believe that six months have passed since becoming Executive Director. We have good days and better days; new faces have stepped up and dedicated faces have stepped down.
One area that has not changed is the need for services by women experiencing crisis pregnancies in the Crossroads. Although the needs haven’t changed, the number of women needing our services is on the rise. At this writing we have a waiting list in our Mother/Baby Program. Moms are reaching out to us earlier in their pregnancies. Therefore, we must assess who needs immediate services, and who could wait a month or two. Victoria and Colorado Counties, as well as the Yoakum area are experiencing more referrals.
We have a great need for Angel Volunteers in Dewitt, Fayette, Jackson, Lavaca, Victoria, and Wharton Counties. There are Volunteer Recruitment events being scheduled in Ganado, Schulenberg, Shiner, and Victoria in the next few weeks. Please check out information on our website and in this newsletter. God answered our prayers when Roe v. Wade was struck down by the Supreme Court. It is now time to meet the rising need for services that are a result of those answered prayers.
Gabriel Project of the Crossroads has always been and will continue to be a Christian ministry. I have had the extreme honor and pleasure to be able to work on expanding our ecumenical base these past few months. This includes volunteers who help our moms keep the grounds of the Bethlehem Maternity Home in pristine condition; partner with us to provide material goods like furniture, diapers, clothes, and financial support.
In closing, I want to share our vision to give back to the communities that have faithfully supported our ministry with prayers, material goods, and financial resources. We hope to partner with schools throughout the Crossroads to increase awareness of the sanctity of life to the next generation of leaders, supporters, and parents. Please watch for our upcoming efforts to bring this vision to fruition.
Thank you for your obedience to God and your servant’s hearts.
We are blessed at every turn…
Linda
“We ourselves feel what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”
Mother Teresa
Barbara Williams recalls “12 years ago, I served a pregnant young lady who lived in a tent with her parents... Today we have the Bethlehem Maternity Home”
While serving the crossroads area for over 20 years, founders of Bethlehem Maternity Home Fred Williams and Barbra McCain Williams encountered an expanded need for resources for mothers who choose life for their unborn children. Hardships on pregnant women required more support and guidance during pregnancy, birthing and transition into independent living. This crucial work could not have been accomplished without the passion, diligence and commitment Lisa Howard, our former Director, contributed to insure the success of the Bethlehem Maternity Home. Lisa brought awareness to the community, helped build donor support and networked with similar programs throughout Texas. We appreciate all she accomplished to help the Williams' dream become a reality.
In April 2021, Rising Up to meet the needs of expectant mothers, Fred and Barbra Williams established the Bethlehem Maternity Home, located in beautiful Victoria, Texas.
The Bethlehem Maternity Home offers Hope, Help and Healing to women experiencing a Crisis Pregnancy. Our home provides a safe, healthy, Christian living environment to women 18-30 years of age, at no cost to them. The Bethlehem Maternity Home operates with the grace and understanding that many of our residents are trauma survivors and require extra care and resources. We are Extremely Proud of the Bethlehem Maternity Home and the Team of caring Resident Advocates and our Director who meet the daily needs of our moms and their babies.

We were blessed to have sold out & exceeded last year’s profit due to the overwhelming support from the community. The event was held Feb 23rd at the Club Westerner. Eline Moya was the emcee. It was a full house! Sam Navarro was the DJ. Ventura’s catered the taco bar. We played 7 games of bingo with name brand prizes modeled by local gents. Pet Resort won the table decorating contest.
We unveiled our new testimonial video created by Ave Advertising Agency, announced our new Exec Director (Linda Palmer,) remembered past President Russell Janecka (may he rest in peace,) honored the co-founders (Barbara & Fred Williams & Emily Yeary) & recognized the Circle of Life monthly donors. It was a fun night of raising awareness & funds for the Gabriel Project’s mission to serve mothers in crisis pregnancy & their babies.
Michele Rohde, Toni Schaar, Robbie Lauger, Diana Galvan, Geri Schroeder, Vanessa DeDear, Jamie Flores and Countless other Volunteers & Supporters! Thank you!!
